Fred H. Raterman Dies at Age of 83
Fred H. Raterman, 83, of 112 East Madison Street, O’Fallon, died at 2:15 a.m. today following an illness of several months. He was retired salesman and well known as a rose fancier.
A son of the late William and Anna Raterman, nee Ricter, he was born in Clinton County near Breese, April 7, 1880. He married Marie Brandt at Breese, May 13, 1903.
Besides his wife he is survived by a son, Herbert Raterman, LaMesa, Calif.; two daughters, Mrs. Gertrude Addison, 15 Granvue Drive, Belleville and Mrs. Evelyn Collins, St. Louis; a brother, George Raterman, Breese; 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Mary Jackson, last month, and four brothers.
Mr. Raterman was a member of St. Clare’s Church and Senior Citizens Club in O’Fallon.
The funeral will be held at 8:40 a.m. Monday from the Wolfersberger-Meyer Funeral Home, O’Fallon, to St. Clare’s Church for a requiem Mass at 9 o’clock. The Rev. Edmund Lugge, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Valhalla Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. Sunday.
