Ruth Dermody, 80
Life-long Trenton resident Mrs. Ruth M. Dermody died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese on March 7th, 2001. She was 80 years old. Born in Trenton on Jan. 9th, 1921, Mrs. Dermody was a daughter of Bernard and Bertha Siebert* Rakel. On Oct. 31st, 1942, in Fort Lewis, Wash., she married Charles Dermody. He preceded her in death on June 17th, 1993.
Survivors include six sons, Daniel and Thomas Dermody of Peoria, William Dermody of Zion, David Dermody of Waterloo, Richard Dermody of Breese and Brian Dermody of Carrollton, Tex.; one daughter, Mrs. Mary Burch of Blue Springs, Mo.; 15 grandchildren and one great -granddaughter and one sister, Mary Louise Weisenfeld of Savannah, Ga. A sister, Betty Deddens, preceded her in death.
A retired bookkeeper for Trenton Community Bank, Mrs. Dermody was also a long-time organist at St. Mary's Church in Trenton. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and of St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary in Breese. Services were held at St. Mary's at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10th, with Rev. Jim Dougherty officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Moss Funeral Home in Trenton was in charge of arrangements.
*The published obituary contains the surname Siebert but Ruth's son, Dan tells us the surname should be SIEBER.
