Elizabeth C. Cooley
SHATTUC - Elizabeth C. Cooley, 91, of Shattuc died on Friday, July 13, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital in Breese.
She was born on March 1, 1910, in Oran, Mo., daughter of Frank and Christine (Feist) Gerardi. She married George W. Cooley on May 9, 1931, in East St. Louis and he preceded her in death on Oct 17, 1981.
She is survived by two sons, Chuck Cooley and wife Marian and George Cooley, all of Shattuc; a brother, Adolph Gerardi and wife Mildred of O'Fallon; three grandchildren, Stephanie Wayt and husband Richard and Bryce Cooley and wife Cindy, all of Shattuc and Charles E. Cooley Jr. of Centralia; and four great-grandchildren. Amber M. Wayt. Jennifer Tuepker, Michael Tuepker and Bryan Garner.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a two brothers Tony and Arnold; a sister, Evangeline; and a granddaughter, Ashley Cooley, on Nov. 2, 1987.
Mrs. Cooley grew up in Missouri and lived in O'Fallon until 1931, when she moved to a farm in rural Shattuc. She was a homemaker and worked on the farm with her husband. She was a member of the Salem Church of God.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday at Salem Church of God with the Rev. Bob Askew officiating. Interment will follow at Ebenezer Cemetery in rural Shattuc.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 8 to 10 a.m. on Monday at Day Funeral Home in Sandoval and from 11 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at Salem Church of God.
Memorials may be made to the Salem Church of God or to the donor's choice.
