Edward Kunkel, 75
Carlyle resident Edward J. Kunkel, 75, died at his home on Monday, March 8th, 1999. He was 75 years old.
Born near Carlyle on Feb. 15th, 1924, he was a son of John and Elizabeth Rolfers Kunkel. On May 26th, 1948, in Bartelso, he married Josephine Winkeler, and she survives.
Additional survivors include five daughters, Ruth Purdeu and Mrs. Dottie Huene of Carlyle, Ms. Teresa Kunkel of Trenton, Mrs. Regina Pollmann of Breese and Mrs. Cathy Hollenkannp of Huey; four sons, Kenneth Kunkel, PhD of Urbana, Charles Kunkel of Breese. Roger Kunkel of Carlyle and John Kunkel of O'Fallon; 12 grandchildren; three sisters, Sr. Johnel Kunkel, PHJC and Sr. Alice Kunkel, PHJC, both of Donaldson, Ind., and Mrs. Leona
Feldmann of Carlyle.
He was preceded in death by a son, Stanley Kunkel and daughTer, Linda Kunkel; one brother, Al Kunkel and one sister, Helen Kunkel.
Mr. Kunkel was a farmer and house painter. He was a member of the Carly]e Knights of Columbus, Catholic Fraternal Life and Wednesday Men's Golf League at Carlyle Lake Golf Club.
He also was a member of St. Mary's Church in Carlyle where a Mass of Resurrection was held at 11 a.m. today (Wednesday). Rev. George Mauck officiated with burial following in the church cemetery.
Visitation was at the Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
